Cannongate Youth Project Newsletter

One of my friends was helping with this excellent project aimed at giving opportunities to young people in Edinburgh who need it and I was delighted to get involved too by helping to raise its profile by working with the youths to redesign their newsletter.

Thus in 2011, I designed the annual newsletter for Cannongate Youth Project (CYP). I attended the club weekly, working with a group of secondary school students to design a selection of letters for the front cover.

This design was chosen to reflect the ethos of the club and in order to add a personal touch: each letter represents an individual child that has been helped through the work of the CYP. This approach also gave the children a sense of ownership over their club news.

The existing CYP branding was maintained and carried throughout the newsletter with an emphasis on photography, colour and easy-to- read chunks of information. The CYP can only exist through the generosity of its sponsors so it is especially important that supporters  are able to read about how their donations have helped over the year in order to continue to inspire them to sponsor the CYP.
